Oliver has left many memories to all who knew him
He also lives on in our hearts and will always be with us because of the precious gifts that he gave us.
Even as a grown up I learned important lessons from Oliver who was only nine years old. He showed me the meaning of determination and courage and not giving up when things got harder than expected.

and the time when Oliver helped me the most - I will always remember
I went to Everest in March I visited Oliver in hospital just before I left. I was scrambling up a very high mountain and although I had been walking for a week and the summit was in sight I was so cold and so short of breath that I felt I couldn't keep going.
I had stopped to rest and help my friend who was also struggling. As we tried to catch our breath I pictured Oliver in his hospital bed. He had never given up with his struggle and I am sure there must have been many times when he wondered if all the pain was worth his goal.
But he never gave up. Oliver had set the standard for courage
Oliver pushed me to the top that day and I know he will be with me next time I am tested.
