Thought for Today
Be Still
Amidst the toil and rush of our day,
Do we ever stop to pray?
Is it all toil and hurry,
And is our time filled with worry?
We neglect the principal need
When on our knees we forget to plead!
Our needs go beyond the daily grind-
What's the use if peace we never find?
We need the quiet place
Where we may avail ourselves of God's amazing
grace.
Amidst the toil and rush-be still and know-
That in adversity we may grow.
Trouble is our servant to cause us gain-
Not just instruments to cause us pain.
God, the Controller and Sovereign Ruler of all
Numbers the hair on our heads and notes the
sparrow's fall.
Let us not forget the quiet place-
Where we avail ourselves of His grace.
In His presence we must come apart
To be still and know with a quiet heart.
So amidst your daily toil, in the secret place of
your being,
Don't be content with doing and seeing,
Commune with Him in quiet repose-
Confidently resting in Him who sees and knows.

Daybreak
The morning light is breaking, Lord
Another day is here,
Life's problems must again be met
With heart and vision clear.
Strength for today I ask, Dear Lord,
Strength only for today
Renew my faith, my hope revive
Illuminate my skies of grey.
For yesterday is past, Dear Lord,
Tomorrow I never may see,
Today alone lies in my grasp
To use or lose for eternity.
Help me to lend a helping hand,
To dry the fallen tears,
To give to all whose life has touched mine
Some comfort or good cheer.
Help me to sink my poor weak self
With it's longings, hopes, and fears,
In service to my fellowman,
Battling through this vale of tears.
Just for today, day by day
Courage and strength I pray,
Garnering the good, forgiving the wrong,
'Til I've lived my last today.

Journey Through Life
As we start off a new year,
I will be trying not to fear;
What the future lies ahead,
Or where last year has led.
For God watches over me,
He lights the dark for to see;
And any obstacles in the way,
He guides me without delay.
He gives peace in my heart,
Patience from the very start;
Even when I was a little boy,
His Spirit was giving me joy.
No matter where I had gone,
I praised Him each new dawn;
Knowing to be within His plan,
So thinking positive that I can.
I continue with every breath,
Until this life has seen death;
It is when He calls me home,
And no longer will I roam.

Setting Your Heart
When you have been raised in Christ,
And knowing why He was sacrificed;
Then set your heart what is in Heaven,
And to everything that God has given.
For Christ rules from God's right side,
Through whom that you should abide;
With everything that you have heard,
That has been spoken within His Word.
Set your mind on things from above,
Through the salvation and of His love;
Rather than the things of this earth,
That is not holding that much worth.
Christ is giving meaning to your life,
Persevering through the toil and strife;
So when He comes and appears to you,
You will appear with Him in glory too.
God loves you so be gentle and kind,
As well as humble and you will find;
Just how much your patience will grow,
And be causing the blessings to flow.

I Wonder...
I wonder when Jesus will return.
Just meditate in the scriptures don't be concerned.
I wonder when the world will come to an end.
Don't dwell on that think about - Heaven.
I wonder why sometimes God is silent.
Maybe you're not listening to hear the pilot.
I wonder why some people don't want to praise God.
Some are ashamed or afraid or too mod.
I wonder why so many other countries hate us so.
Pray that they come, Jesus to know.
I wonder if I will ever lead any one to Christ.
Making you available, that is the price.
I wonder if our church will ever grow.
Knock on some doors and ask them to go.
I wonder why people will not accept Jesus at all.
Plant the seeds anyway, Jesus will call.
I wonder why so many want to remove God from all things.
They may not feel that way, when the rapture bell rings.

Wait With Faith
Lord you have faithfully shown me
So many times before
And this time is no exception, Lord
And simply can't be ignored
That you know all that concerns my life
Everything your eyes do see
You always come through at just the right time
To meet my every need
For nothing escapes your watchful eye
No problem that we may cross
But so often, Lord, it seems as though
There's a delay in your response
I know it's a testing of our faith
To wait so patiently
You stretch us so our faith may grow
Though we want it instantly
But it's for our good that you respond
In your time, not in ours
For if you didn't - we'd stay as infants
Getting everything right now
For us to grow more Christ-like
We need to learn to wait
For often that's the answer to prayer
And builds us up in faith
So I thank you for the answer to come
As I hand it over in prayer
Thank you that you're still working on me
And my breakthrough's drawing near.

HOW I RESPOND
At night I started thinking about my day,
The words that I said,
And the actions I displayed.
I find myself sadly shaking my head.
My heart knows I didn't do right.
I was a poor example, Lord
Forgive me this time
Remind me once more
That how I respond
To the issues of today
Is a reflection of You, God
In so many ways.
Lord, please help me through this all
To think before I speak
So in how I respond
It is You they will see!
Help me, God, not to get bitter and angry inside
But to love instead.
Let me turn away from growing pride
And crucify acts of selfishness.
For others should be ahead
Of all the things I am wanting.
My only dream left
Is that You'd be pleased.
Lord, forgive me!
My only dream left is that
You alone would be pleased!

My Saviour's Hands
I think about my Saviour's hands
And what I'm sure I'll see
The day my Father calls me home
And they reach out for me
I'll see a kind and loving hand
Which one time reached to plea
Don't send the little ones away
But bring them here to me
A healing hand that touched the blind
And caused their eyes to see
Providing hands that fed a throng
One day by Galilee
I'll see a reassuring hand
When Christ returns for me
The one that reached for Peter
When He walked upon the sea
Stern hands that turned the tables
And made money-changers flee
The hands that sweat great drops of blood
Once at Gethsemane
Then tears of gratitude will flow
When on His hands I see
The marks of cruel spikes
That caused Him pain and agony
For then I'll see forgiving hands
The ones that set me free
The ones that drew me to His side
For all eternity

He Keeps Me
As I look on the years,
and all I've been through
I realize that
I must give praises to you.
I've caused much pain,
and plenty of sorrow
Father I thank you for letting me
see another tomorrow.
The tragedies I've suffered,
and the pain that I had known,
You took that all away,
since in Your word I have grown.
You have held my hand
and pulled me through
every time I have prayed
and called on you.
You are always watching me
from your throne,
You always remind me
that my job is not done.
You have opened my eyes
so that I can see,
That you have always been there
holding on to me.

YOU CAN TRUST THE HOLY BIBLE
You can trust the Holy Bible from the first page
to the last. You can trust what it says about the
future, and what it says about the past.
There really was a Noah, who built an ark with a
hammer and a nail. There really was a Jonah, who
lived after being swallowed by a whale.
There really was a town called Sodom, destroyed by
fire and brimstone from above. And God really did
feed the Hebrews with manna, sent to them with love.
There really was a virgin Mary, who conceived
Jesus in her womb. And it's true he came to life
again, after being buried in a tomb.
It's true Jesus healed the sick, and gave sight to
those who couldn't see. It's true he healed the
deaf, and walked on the Sea of Galilee.
He healed some who couldn't walk, and raised three
persons from the dead. He fed a multitude of
people with only two fish and five loaves of bread.
The Bible tells us of hell.....a place for those
not forgiven of their sin. And it tells us of
heaven.....a place Christ's disciples are sure to enter in.
The Bible speaks of many things..... some easy,
some hard to understand. But the Bible can be
fully trusted, for it came from God's almighty hand.
So, don't pass judgment on the Bible. It's always
right, never wrong. For God has given all its
contents, and there's not a verse that doesn't belong.
No, don't pass judgment on the Bible. It's God's
infallible Word. Just listen to God speak as you
read it. You'll be blessed by what is heard.

May I Live In This Life I Know
May I live in this life I know
Helping people as I go
May I touch someone's heart
I hope they remember me
And never will we part
May I live with my soul
Give love to someone I do not know
Can you look in my eyes
Do you see the reflection in the stars
I have tried my best, to get you through life's test
Never take the gift from your heart
And give it away, for there is only one you
No one else can understand, what to do
Do not cry any tears, for Jesus is here
When you are lost, or in despair
You are never alone out there
The love to create,
Is in writing about the life you face
I will give away my cares and worries
Jesus carry me, for I know I am weak
It is so hard for me to see, take me on this road, so deep
Hold onto my shoulder
I know for my life You care
Let me touch the sun and the waves of an ocean
No one can touch me, without going through the Son.

Time And Space
Touch me dear Lord
Show me the way
Your word has struck a chord
Please, grant me peace this day
At times things seem a bit hazy
As I try to find my own way
My bad habits have kept me lazy
Because I'm wasting time each day
You made me to do your will
An empty vessel waiting to be used
Yet I can't seem to sit still
My ideals have me a bit confused
Now I'm coming to you in prayer
Your forgiveness is what I seek
My hope is that you'd be right there
Right now my future seems quite bleak
I'll shout to the heavens high
Of your mercy and grace
For this world wants me to deny
That you exist in time and space

"To him who knows to do good and does not do it,
to him it is sin" - James 4:17
Do Better
Earthly man says, "If I don't do bad things
to hurt people, then I have no sin."
But God says, "To him who knows to do good
and does not do it, to him it is sin."
God wants us to do better than men do
because He is perfect, just, and true!
He's taught us to do good for human beings,
So others can see His love through our doings.
If we know it is good, let's do it,
So that the world will know we are not weak!
We are the stronger and better humans living,
For we do good things instead of not do anything.
May God give us the wisdom to know the good things,
The courage to do them without waiting,
And the lasting joy to continue doing them everyday,
So that the Name of our Lord, is praised always!

Rejoice in the Lord always.
I will say that again: Rejoice!
Let your gentleness be evident to all
The Lord is near.
Do not be anxious about anything,
but in everything,
by prayer and petition,
with thanksgiving,
present your requests to God.
Philippans 4, v4:6

We Matter To God
As we come before you Lord
And worship at your feet
You pour out your blessings upon us
And meet us in our need
Whatever we are facing
We can leave it with you Lord
And walk away with confidence
Knowing you will bear it all
For you are God almighty
Our God in whom we trust
To unload us of our burdens
And shower us with love
Lord you are so wonderful
To care about our lives
Each small, insignificant detail
Each tear that we cry
For everything about us Lord
Is so important to you
You want to be involved in our lives
In everything we do
So I can't help but praise you
For the loving God you are
You care so much for every soul
And you're never very far
That we cannot touch your heart
Every time we come to pray
And we can come into your presence
Each and every day.

Psalm 130: 5-8
Wait with expectancy
For the Lord to come through
And place your hope in His word
That He has given you
Keep on looking and waiting
For the Lord to arrive
As a watchman for the morning
Wait for His reply
And put your hope in the Lord
In His mercy and His love
For He is our redemption
From the sins that bound us up.

I can see You
"There's never a time
when you're out of my sight,
No matter where you go
or how dark is your night.
I can hear your heart beating;
I listen for your call,
And when you are in need,
I will give you my all.
I see when you're down
and I see when you're sad,
I see when you're dancing
and when you are glad.
I can see your bright future;
I know your destiny,
And as we walk together,
we can make it a reality.
Why do you run from me?
Why you stay away?
My heart rejoices when you invite me
into your day.
You have a special calling,
that only you can do,
And I'll give you the strength
to make it through.
Don't look at your past
and see where you've been,
Look to the future,
for today is where it can begin.
I have special treasures
I've placed along the way,
And as we walk together,
I will give them all away.
My love has no bounds;
my grace and mercy are free,
And all you need to receive them
is to open up to me.
I will flood your heart
and begin to renew your mind,
And I will wash your sin away,
no matter what kind.
Be open and listen
and I will show you the way,
And tomorrow will be brighter
than it is today.
Don't look at your obstacles,
look only at my love,
I will give you special wings,
to help you fly above."

MY TASK
Help me Lord this is what I ask that you will help me with my task
Help me Lord to show the world exactly where I stand, and that I am going follow your every command.
Help me Lord to show the world in everything I do,
I'm living my life for only you.
Help me Lord to show the world love.
The very love I received from above.
Help me Lord to show the world that you have come to save, and that your blood you freely gave.
Help me Lord to show the world that the broken heart you can mend,
and that you're the meaning of a true friend.
Help me Lord to show the world that you love us, no matter how much we complain or fuss.
Help me Lord to show the world that you're here in this very place,
and that they can see you when they look in my face.
Help me Lord to show the world that you're my only desire, and you alone I'll forever admire.
Help me Lord to tell the world that no matter what they do,
your love and mercy is always there to pull us through.
Help me Lord to tell the world that you hung on a tree, just so we all could someday be set free.
Help me Lord to tell the world that you went through so much pain,
just so our love you may someday gain.
Help me Lord to tell the world that you care, and that no matter what you'll always be there.
Help me Lord to tell the world about the promise land, and that you're always willing to lend a helping hand.
Help me Lord to tell the world to daily pick up their cross, and to be a light shinning for the lost.
Help me Lord to tell the world that you're our only hope, and just maybe that'll help some kid turn away from dope.
Help me Lord to tell the world that when we're in trouble, you and your angels are there on the double.
Help me Lord this is what I ask, that you will help with my task.

"Slow Down Therapy"
Slow down; God is still in heaven.
You are not responsible
for doing it all yourself, right now.
Remember a happy, peaceful time in your past. Rest there.
Each moment has richness that takes a lifetime to savour.
Set your own pace.
When someone is pushing you,
it's OK to tell them they're pushing.
Take nothing for granted:
watch water flow, the corn grow,
the leaves blow, your neighbour mow.
Taste your food.
God gives it to delight as well as to nourish.
Notice the sun and the moon as they rise and set.
They are remarkable for their steady pattern of
movement, not their speed.
Quit planning how you're going to use what you
know, learn, or possess.
God's gifts just are; be grateful and their
purpose will be clear.
When you talk with someone, don't think about what
you'll say next.
Thoughts will spring up naturally if you let them.
Talk and play with children. It will bring out the
unhurried little person inside you.
Create a place in your home...at your work...in your heart...
where you can go for quiet and recollection.
You deserve it.
Allow yourself time to be lazy and unproductive.
Rest isn't luxury; it's a necessity.
Listen to the wind blow.
It carries a message of yesterday and tomorrow-and now.
NOW counts.
Rest on your laurels.
They bring comfort whatever their size, age, or condition.
Talk slower. Talk less. Don't talk.
Communication isn't measured by words.
Give yourself permission to be late sometimes.
Life is for living, not scheduling.
Listen to the song of a bird; the complete song.
Music and nature are gifts, but only if you are
willing to receive them.
Take time just to think.
Action is good and necessary,
but it's fruitful only if we muse, ponder, and mull.
Make time for play-the things you like to do.
Whatever your age, your inner child needs
re-creation.
Watch and listen to the night sky. It speaks.
Listen to the words you speak, especially in prayer.
Learn to stand back and let others take their turn as leaders.
There will always be new opportunities for you to
step out in front again.
Divide big jobs into little jobs.
If God took six days to create the universe, can
you hope to do any better?
When you find yourself rushing and anxious, stop.
Ask yourself "WHY?" you are rushing and anxious.
The reasons may improve your self-understanding.
Take time to read the Bible.
Thoughtful reading is enriching reading.
Direct your life with purposeful choices, not with
speed and efficiency.
The best musician is one who plays with expression
and meaning,
not the one who finishes first.
Take a day off alone; make a retreat.
You can learn from monks and hermits without becoming one.
Pet a furry friend.
You will give and get the gift of now.
Work with your hands. It frees the mind.
Take time to wonder. Without wonder, life is merely existence.
Sit in the dark. It will teach you to see and
hear, taste and smell.
Once in a while, turn down the lights, the volume,
the throttle, the invitations.
Less really can be more.
Let go.
Nothing is usually the hardest thing to do - but often it is the best.
Take a walk-but don't go anywhere.
If you walk just to get somewhere, you sacrifice the walking.
Count your friends.
If you have one, you are lucky.
If you have more, you are blessed.
Bless them in return.
Count your blessings - one at a time and slow

BEING THERE
Being there can be lending a hand,
lifting a heavy load.
Being there can be a smile on a cloudy day.
Being there can be a crust of bread to the poor,
giving shelter from the storm.
Being there can be a thought,
a blessing, a prayer.
Being there can be showing support and enthusiasm.
Being there can be listening quietly while someone
else has something important they'd like you to hear.
Being there can be a friendly hug or a warm embrace.
Being there can be expressions penned on a page.
Being there can be the transferring of a certain glance.
Being there can be offering your time.
Being there can be sitting silently beside someone
to watch the sun slide behind a silver sea.
Being there can be wiping a tear.
Being there can be chasing the moon at midnight.
Being there can be a whisper a word, a soft touch
at the right moment.
Being there can be riding the ferriswheel together
without ever leaving the ground.
Being there can be a telephone call,
closing the miles.
Being there can be a kiss on a fevered brow.
Being there can be the gift of a flower.
Being there can be teaching with kindness.
Being there can be sharing the depth of a powerful
silence.
Being there can be wishing you were somewhere
when you must be someplace else.
Being there can be taking someone's place when
they must be someplace else.
Being there can be driving through the blazing
brilliance of autumn.
Being there can be just holding hands.
Being there can be waiting out the tough times.
Being there can be touching God through the heart
and letting His will be done.

LORD YOU ARE LOVE
Lord you are love,
Peace and kindness too.
And in the dark and lonely times
I know that I'll get through.
Because you hold me
Safe and calm,
You're there each time I fall.
You promised to never leave me,
When you died to save us all.
You said you'd always love me
And I know that this is true,
Because Lord, you are love.
Peace and kindness too.

Open Eyes
My eyes are now open to who I once was
through the mercy God gave me from heaven above
when He allowed me to see who I was for myself
once believing in no one not even myself
Only now can I hear the songs placed in my heart
so graciously given through the voice of my Lord
this Lord I believed in but yet did not know
has opened my eyes as He keeps me once more
I believed that through faith my heart has been healed
from the hurt and mistrust over the course of my years
Only now, do I believe there can be peace in my heart
For the Lord has over- ruled it and filled it with joy
Though I once believed that my heart couldn't be changed
Or that one day the love of the Lord I'd proclaim
now all of his love I can feel for myself
for the Lord He has kept me in-spite of myself

The Meshing of Hearts - Romans 15:3
Have you ever felt the crosses weight heavy upon your shoulder?
the crushing load, the irritating rub of wood on flesh?
Or the pain of nails in feet and hands, separating tissue?
of course not... but that doesn't mean your heart
and His can't mesh
You can forgive the angry one who rubs against your day
or comfort little children with their little glowing charm
Or help the weary stand again... and help them on their way
and lend a hand to any who could use another arm
And then appreciation for the One who came so many years ago
can sure be felt in the heart of hearts as you
bide your time
And growing thus to meet Him with a character that glows
and a countenance that like a poem... with His own does rhyme

So little time
So little time to say the things
You'd really like to say -
Before you even find the words,
The time just slips away.
So little time to do the things
You feel that you must do.
So treasure, like the purest gold,
The time God's given you.
So little time to dream your dreams,
For youth has passed its prime,
And all too soon you realize
That there's ... so little time.
So little time to reach the height
To which you're bound to climb,
For swiftly pass the waning years,
And there's ... so little time.
So little time to pass regrets,
And less, to make amends,
Yet God can heal the deepest wounds
In chosen, cherished friends.
So little time to share God's love
And beauty here on earth,
And know, before His endless time,
Their meaning and true worth.
Oh, yes, there is so little time
To seek the hidden door
That opens up to heaven's time,
Where time's forevermore.

When a Christian hits rock bottom, he finds that Christ is a firm foundation.
What you do with Jesus now determines what He will do with you later.
Don't study the Bible to be able to quote it; study it to obey it.
When you receive Christ, God's work in you has just begun.
Many Christians are strong on service but weak on worship.
Only Living Water can quench the driving thirst of the soul.
The best way to escape temptation is to flee to God.
To hear God's voice, turn down the world's volume.
The Christian's heart is the Holy Spirit's home.
God reached out to mankind with the arms of Jesus.
Though millions are bending God's ear in prayer, He listens to each individually.

Eternal Peace
We do not need to live in worry
Nor to anxiously fret
Because we know God's in control
And He can handle it
He knows what things worry us
And cause us to greatly fear
What we feel may threaten us
May or may not be there
For much of what we worry about
Are things we do not know
Things that may or may not happen
Bringing fear of the unknown
The word of God gives us power
To have faith to overcome
To rely upon God's Holy Spirit
And trust in His risen Son
So next time when you find that you
Are unsure of what might be
Look to God and know that you
Can have His eternal peace

Pancakes
Six year old Brandon decided one Saturday morning
to fix his parents pancakes. He found a big bowl
and spoon, pulled a chair to the counter, opened
the cupboard and pulled out the heavy flour
canister, spilling it on the floor. He scooped
some of the flour into the bowl with his hands,
mixed in most of a cup of milk and added some
sugar, leaving a floury trail on the floor which
by now had a few tracks left by his kitten.
Brandon was covered with flour and getting
frustrated. He wanted this to be something very
good for Mom and Dad, but it was getting very bad.
He didn't know what to do next, whether to put it
all into the oven or on the stove, (and he didn't
know how the stove worked). Suddenly he saw his
kitten licking from the bowl of mix and reached to
push her away, knocking the egg carton to the
floor. Frantically he tried to clean up this
monumental mess but slipped on the eggs, getting
his pyjamas white and sticky. And just then he saw
Dad standing at the door. Big crocodile tears
welled up in Brandon's eyes. All he had wanted to
do was something good, but he'd made a terrible
mess. He was sure a scolding was coming, maybe
even a spanking. But his father just watched him.
Then, walking through the mess, he picked up his
crying son, hugged him and loved him, getting his
own pyjamas white and sticky in the process.
That's how God deals with us. We try to do
something good in life, but it turns into a mess.
Our marriage gets all sticky or we insult a friend
or we can't stand our job or our health goes sour.
Sometimes we just stand there in tears because we
can't think of anything else to do. That's when
God picks us up and loves us and forgives us, even
though some of our mess gets all over Him. But
just because we might mess up, we can't stop
trying like Brandon to 'make pancakes' for God or
for others. Sooner or later we'll get it right,
and then they'll be glad we tried.

The Whisper
O Lord my heart is aching,
Battered, torn, and bruised.
I've been trampled, beaten and broken.
I've been pained and despitefully used.
God, why have you allowed this?
And what do you want me to do?
"Forgive" my Saviour whispered,
"As I have forgiven you."
But how can I forgive Lord,
With this anger in my heart?
"By faith" my Saviour whispered,
"Then I will do my part."
Darkness was yielding to morning,
His patient hand leading me on.
He lifted me on the high places,
Riding the wings of the dawn.
I arose with the Sun of righteousness,
Who brought healing in His wings.
My heart that was stony and bitter
Became a new heart that only grace brings.
Living Waters of His forgiveness
Burst forth from my heart like a fountain,
Washing and cleansing the hate and the pride
That had loomed in my soul like a mountain.
Now I have peace with the agony gone.
He has healed me and set me free.
What a wonderful gift and what great reward
The Lord Jesus forgiving through me!

Revive Us
Oh, Heavenly Father, hear the plea of your church.
Through prayers and fasting; our souls you search.
We are a wicked lot that has moved from thy voice.
We have listened to Satan; the world has become our choice.
What you have prepared for the later; we have dismissed.
Our hearts have grown cold from all that we resist.
Rip open the heavens and look down upon this sinful lot.
Stoke the melting fires that return us to that spot.
Where the Holy Spirit moves within like boiling waters.
Spare none Lord, fathers, sons, mothers and daughters.
For thy Holiness and Glory none should ever protest.
Rekindle thy flame that smolders within our chests.
Come and meet with us; for you are whom we seek.
And revive us once again; here humbly at your feet.
